Markus is a European and German patent attorney, but still an engineer at heart. The focus of his work at Meissner Bolte is on searches in the patent literature, where his qualification as a patent attorney helps him to assess the relevance of the results. He enjoys working directly with the teams of our clients and of Meissner Bolte. Thus, with over 13 years of experience in the field of intellectual property, he supports our clients at various critical points in time. During product development with overview searches, freedom-to-operate searches or analyses of competitors. In the run-up to their own applications, for example for employee inventions, through classic prior art searches. But also during contact with third party rights by means of validity and infringement opinions, with which the robustness of third party IP rights is analysed and the danger they pose is weighed. Last but not least, of course, in oppositions, utility model cancellations or nullity actions, with which we try to restore our clients' freedom of action. Here, the close coordination of searches with our internal litigation teams, as well as the coordination of further external searchers, is one of his tasks.

Of course, Markus also supports his colleagues in the usual IP matters, in particular patent and utility model law, from applications, the initiation of national and regional phases, to translations and figures.
